GROUNDCONTROL
Beyond the Sales Deck
Turning a complex sales story into a differentiated interactive experience
Role: SVP Marketing at GroundTruth
Scope: Positioning • Sales Enablement • Product Marketing • GTM
GroundTruth had sophisticated location-intelligence technology and a broad platform story, but explaining its full value in a traditional sales presentation could quickly become dense. At the same time, our competitive review showed that the category was converging on increasingly similar sales narratives and design conventions.
Sales needed a way to make our technology tangible and differentiated — something that could simplify the story, create a more memorable conversation and give buyers a clearer sense of what GroundTruth could actually do.
The Challenge
Rather than build another deck, we built an experience.
GroundControl turned the sales narrative into an interactive environment that allowed sellers to guide buyers through the platform visually — moving from abstract capabilities to real-world applications in a way that felt more like experiencing the product than being presented to.
The Idea
Building GroundControl
We designed GroundControl as a guided selling experience rather than a linear presentation. Sellers could log in to a customized experience and move through the story based on the customer’s needs, using interactive visualizations, product scenarios and proof points to make complex location intelligence easier to understand.
How the experience worked
Sellers could choose the parts of the story most relevant to the buyer rather than follow a fixed slide sequence.
1) Start with the customer
Interactive 3D maps, audience visualizations and real-world use cases turned abstract location data into something buyers could immediately understand.
2) Make the technology tangible
3) Bring proof into the conversation
Customer examples, product capabilities and business outcomes were built directly into the experience, so sellers could move naturally from story to evidence.
IMPACT
A sales story people could actually experience.
GroundControl gave sellers a differentiated way to tell the GroundTruth story, helped create consistency across enterprise conversations and made complex platform capabilities easier to demonstrate in a memorable way.
-
Moved the sales experience away from the same deck conventions competitors were using.
-
Let sellers adapt the story to the customer rather than force every buyer through the same sequence.
-
Turned location intelligence from an abstract technology story into something buyers could see and explore.
